Yes, we race and cruise...  but we also gather with no other purpose than to enjoy good food and each other's company. 

 

We also volunteer with Lake Lanier Association's annual "Shore Sweep", a large lake clean-up project held each September.

Dirt-ups

This year, we hosted a couple post-race dirt-ups where racers gathered together after the race to eat, drink and tell true racing lies.
 

January

Held New Year's Day... Don't miss the fiercely competitive post-Poker Run Chili/Chowder/Stew/Soup Cook-off. Join us Wednesday, January 1, 2025!

Blessing of the Fleet 
Many thanks to officiants Laura Clarke (2024) and Sheri & Hugh Smith (2023) as we resumed our annual blessing ceremony last year.  This year's event was held Sunday, March 3rd, just prior to the start of Spring Race #3.

Post Race Dirt-up for the Around Alone Solo Regatta

Come out and enjoy celebrating the accomplishments of the Around Alone single-handed racers. This year's race was Saturday, April 20th.


May

Low Country Boil & Member Social 
Join us as we soc
ialize over Lobster (or Low Country Boil), BBQ Chicken
 and RoastedVeggies. This year's boil and monthly social was held Saturday, May 11th at the Holiday Marina Pavilion.
 

June

Joan Holcomb Women Skippers Regatta Awards Ceremony

Come enjoy the after race awards ceremony at Lake Lanier Sailing Club! This year's regatta was Saturday, June 1st.

September
 

Steak Cookout

Join us as we stake out an island and enjoy grilled steaks on the beach. This year's social was held Saturday, September 7th.

Lake Lanier Association (LLA) Shore Sweep

Join "Team Barefoot Sailing Club" as we have a fun day cleaning the lake's shoreline with hundreds of other LLA volunteers in this long-running event. This year's cleanup was held Saturday, September 21st.

October

50th Barefoot Open Regatta's Saturday Night Party
University Yacht Club

October 11th-13th we celebrated our 50th(!) Barefoot Open Regatta. The weekend was gorgeous and though winds were light on Saturday, wind improved for Sunday. Additionally, we enjoyed the Saturday evening dinner party at UYC featuring dinner, raffle & silent auction, live music (Thunder Gypsy), and dancing. Please support our Sponsors that help us create this fun weekend each year.  Save the last weekend of September (Sept. 26th-28th) for next year's regatta.

Holiday Party

You may not recognize us cleaned up and in our party clothes. Gather as we recognize fellow members with club awards and share the changing of the board. Dress code is open, so feel free to dress as casual or festive as you like.  This year's party will be held at Brimstone on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
