Joan Holcomb Memorial
Women Skippers Regatta
(BFSC/LLSC)
Saturday, May 17, 2025

Cohosts BFSC and LLSC invite you to this year's regatta held in memory of

Joan Holcomb

Commodore of BFSC 1994 and LLSC 2002.

For the races, a woman must helm the boat. A woman must also make the strategic and tactical decisions for the race.

The remainder of the crew can be made up of women and men.

WOMEN SKIPPERS

Whether new or a seasoned Joan Holcomb racer, we invite you to REGISTER for this year's regatta where you'll compete against fellow COMPETITORS in PHRF or Non-Spin fleets.

Check out the CREW/SKIPPER AVAILABILITY board and grab your crew.
[Today, 7:30 am update: Extra crew is especially helpful if the
CURRENT FORECAST holds... "Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 11am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 85. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms."]

For details, refer to the NOTICE OF RACE and the SAILING INSTRUCTIONS.

AVAILABLE CREW

Would like to race but don't have a boat?   We can't make any guarantees as skippers often have a full crew in place.  But consider adding your name to the CREW/SKIPPER AVAILABILITY board and check "JHM Regatta."

NOTE:  Since the board is public-facing, any posted contact info is then searchable.  If you prefer to keep it offline, leave the phone blank and put bfscweb@gmail.com in the email column.  We'll be sure to forward any inquiries.

For details, refer to the NOTICE OF RACE and the SAILING INSTRUCTIONS.

VOLUNTEERS

We encourage you to pitch in and join us for whichever task you most enjoy - whether it be on the water with Race Committee or onshore with the Awards Ceremony.

Sign up on our VOLUNTEERS  board.

SUPPORTERS

Not racing or volunteering, but wish to show your support?  RSVP and come cheer on the racers at the Awards Ceremony in the LLSC Clubhouse.  We expect to kick off at about 4pm, but it will depend on the finish time of the races.  The scrumptious meal is expected to include Boston butt (barbeque), Shrimp scampi, Chicken jambalaya, finger foods, salad and desserts.

NOTE: No need to RSVP if you're racing or volunteering as we'll already have you counted.

SPONSOR(S)

And last, but certainly not least.  The JHM Regatta would not be the success it is today without the generous financial support of Dee Rosenbaum, the widow of Dean Holcomb.

In the decade following Joan's passing in 2010, her widower Dean Holcomb was a tremendous supporter of the regatta.  After his unfortunate passing in 2020, his wife, Dee Rosenbaum, took the reins and continues to champion and generously support the event to this day.  We are tremendously grateful for her support.

Joan Holcomb was beloved in both the BFSC and LLSC communities, serving as Commodore of BFSC in1994 and then LLSC in 2002.  After her untimely passing in 2010, we decided to name Barefoot's existing women skippers regatta in her memory.

In the decade following, her widower Dean Holcomb was a tremendous supporter of the regatta.  After his unfortunate passing in 2020, his wife, Dee Rosenbaum, took the reins and continues to champion and generously support the event to this day.

In 2022, LLSC joined BFSC in co-hosting the regatta and has done so each year since.
