About the event
John Martin presents "All About Knots." I started tying knots as a Tenderfoot Boy Scout, about 12 years old. I won a knot tying competition by being able to tie a sheepshank. My prize was a box of chocolate, covered cherries.
We started sailing in the spring of 1971 sailing a 16 foot day sailor. To date we have owned about a dozen boats. I have sailed and raced on many more. Our current boat is a Cape Dory 31, staysail sloop, with a blue and yellow spinnaker. This is our fifth Cape Dory that we have owned.
Currently I teach two three hour knots clinics with Lanier Sailing Academy. I have taught knots at Junior Sailing camp at Lake Lanier Sailing Club and University Yacht Club.
