Barefoot Sailing Club’s 2019
Dorton Cup on Nov. 10th
The Dorton Cup is a closed regatta for Barefoot Sailing Club skippers only, but crew do not need to be members. The schedule for this regatta is listed below. The results of Dorton Cup will be incorporated into the results for the Skipper of the Year tally.
1. Rules
The regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020, the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association and the 2019 Barefoot Dorton Cup Regatta Sailing Instructions.
2. Schedule for Regatta
All races are scheduled to be held on Sunday November 10, 2019. The Skipper’s meeting will be held in the parking lot in front of Aqualand Marina ship’s store at 9am (2 hours before the race start time). We’ll attempt as many as three (3) races weather conditions permitting.
Race Start Time
Dorton #1 11 am (Start of sequence will be 10:55)
Dorton #2-3 immediately following proceeding race as weather permits
3. Registration
Registrations will be accepted at the Skippers’ Meeting. There are no fees for registration as long as the skipper is a current member of BFSC in good standing.
4. Sailing Instructions
Sailing Instructions will be posted on-line and hard copies will be available at the skipper’s meeting.
5. Location
Chattahoochee Bay and adjoining environs, Lake Lanier, GA
6. Classes and Eligibility
All skippers must be current (2019) members of Barefoot Sailing Club, Inc. and have a current (2019) LLPHRF certificate. All participants (Skippers/boats) will race together as one fleet. Skippers/boats sailing non-spinnaker must declare as such at the Skipper’s Meeting and will be given an additional 15 second per mile handicap.
7. Scoring
The races will scored using the PHRF Time on Distance formula using current LLPHRF certificate numbers.
8. Prizes
Trophies will be awarded for First, Second and Third places. The perpetual trophy will remain in the possession of the first place winner until the following year’s Dorton Cup event.
9. Disclaimer of Liability
Competitors participate in the races entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. Barefoot Sailing Club will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the races.
