49th Barefoot Open Regatta
October 13-15, 2023

For the 2023 Barefoot Open Regatta we had 19 sailboats registered; 18 sailboats with their skippers and crews showed-up promptly at 10AM for the grand start. Winds were perfect with 10+ knots with gusts and all sailors were excited to race enjoying the high winds and having lots of fun. The winds began to increase during the afternoon topping up to 20+ knots of gust (Woohoo!). We witnessed boats gracefully cutting thru water like we have not seen for some time. Spectacular! Some boats unfortunately took a hit with the high winds causing them to retire early from the race. Favored-End also had engine problems causing FE to retire. Come Sunday, 11 brave skippers returned for the 2nd day of sailing. All 11 skippers and crew were tired but with big smiles, eager to show the better sailor.
