Joan Holcomb annual Woman Skipper Regatta

Barefoot Sailing Club is proud to announce the Woman Skippers Race in memory of Joan Holcomb, BFSC’s 1994 Commodore. The Race is scheduled for Saturday June 9, 2018. Come out and show the Lake Lanier sailing community who is the best Woman Skipper, party with other sailors and have fun! Barefoot Sailing Club is the organizing authority for this regatta. Notice is hereby given that all participants, including spectators, officials, and support personnel, participate in this event solely at their own risk.

1. Venue

The Barefoot Sailing Club (BFSC) Woman Skippers Race will be held on Lake Sidney Lanier just north of Atlanta, Georgia. Registration will take place via the Skipper’s Meeting at the Aqualand Ship’s Store parking lot at 9:00 AM on June 9, 2018. Racing will be held on Chattahoochee Bay beginning at 11:00 AM. Award presentation will be immediately upon completion of the Race/s (location to be announced at skipper’s mtng.)

2. Eligibility

The Race is open to all auxiliary boats. It is a requirement that a woman helm the boat. A woman is also to be making the strategic and tactical decisions for the race. The remainder of the crew can be made up of women and men. All boats must have a valid PHRF Certificate issued by the Lake Lanier PHRF Committee.

3. Anticipate Fleets (May change based on boats registered the morning of the race)

LOW PHRF – Flat Start (Non-Spin 15+ PHRF adjustment)

HIGH PHRF – Flat Start (Non-Spin 15+ PHRF adjustment)

CRUISING – Pursuit Start (Start times given at skipper’s mtng. Non-Spin 15+PHRF adjustment)

Trophies will be awarded to the top finishers in each category.
