11:00 AM – Aqualand Marina Store parking lot.
Registration : Sign up at skippers' meeting.
Schedule of Event :
The Skippers meeting will be held at 11 a.m. prior to the event at Aqualand Marina Store parking lot. Attendance is required to get RC instructions, and the first card. The sailing is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. The first designated mark will be "X" mark (Island 18), but may be moved elsewhere at the discretion of the Race Committee.
Classes and Flags: There will only be one class designated for this event. No flags will be used.
The event area will be in Flowery Branch Bay and/or Chattahoochee Bay areas.
Courses will be designated by the Race Committee using permanent Corps, Lake Lanier Sailing Club marks, or temporary marks. The course will be announced at the Skipper’s Meeting. (See Appendix A)
The Start: The course will be set up for a 1 PM start. In order to avoid congestion, boats are encouraged to stagger the approach at the “X” mark, or to start at a Mark other than “X”.
Boats are finished once they have retrieved the fifth card of the poker hand from their final mark of the course. There is no official finish line, although the BFSC/SSC authorities may remove all unclaimed card envelopes from the marks somewhere in the 15:00-15:30 timeframe.
Scoring : Best poker hand wins.
Time Limit : Poker hands need to be turned into the Race Committee at the designated Party location by 16:30.
Non-Favorable Sailing Conditions :
In the event that the Race Committee decides the weather conditions are such that the on water activities will not be safe and/or fun, then we will conduct the Poker Run at the Chili/Chowder/Stew/Soup Cook-off venue.
Changes in Sailing Instructions:
Any change to the sailing instructions, including any change to the schedule of event, shall be announced at the Skipper’s Meeting.
Trash : Any boat seen by the Race Committee throwing trash into the lake may be limited to a four card poker hand. Card to be discarded will be one of the cards contained in a sealed envelope before the sealed envelopes are opened. Such penalty will not be grounds for redress.
