With Mixed Emotions...
Joyce McIntosh, 2017 Commodore

April 19, 2022

It's with mixed emotions that I announce I'm leaving the area in mid-June.   I will be moving to Valley, Alabama, which is just over the Georgia line, down I-85 South, between LaGrange and Auburn/Opelika.  I've lived in the metro Atlanta area my whole life and have been in the Duluth area for 38 years.  However, my daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids have asked me to move closer to them, and I agree that the timing for that is perfect.  With the changes in lifestyle during the past couple of years of Covid, I had gotten out of my routine of so many of my activities (sailing, dance, and going to see many local musician friends every weekend).  And while I have resumed some of that, it will make it a little less painful to say goodbye than if these things were in my weekly routine, like before.

I was an active member of Barefoot in the mid-70s to 80s, up until we started putting sailboats on the ocean.  I reconnected in 2011 or so, and BFSC once again became a very important and active part of my life.  You will all be missed.  If you have any sailing friends (or boaters of any type) at West Point Lake or over near Columbus, I'd love to make contact.  I will be close to West Point Lake, and I met some of their people at the Atlanta Boat Show, back when Barefoot had a booth there.

Let's stay in touch through social media.  I know that Barefoot is in good hands, with our strong long-time members and the many new ones we have acquired.
