Lake Lanier Sailfest
A Weekend of Celebration, Education, and Charity at Margaritaville at Lanier Islands
The excitement is building as Lake Lanier Sailfest 2024 prepares to set sail at Margaritaville at Lanier Islands from April 5 to April 7, 2024.
This inaugural sailing festival promises a weekend filled with parties, waterfront festivities, sailing contests and racing, educational classes, and an unforgettable celebration of our vibrant Lake Lanier sailing community
Event Highlights
-
Community Engagement - There will be boats to explore, but it’s not a boat show. This is a community celebration. Connect with fellow sailing and racing enthusiasts, share stories, and celebrate the spirit of camaraderie that defines the sailing community.
-
Competitions - Sailing Regattas, Remote Control Sailboat Racing, and our own Sailor’s Olympics are just a few of the events lined up for Saturday, April 6th.
-
Educational Events - Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your sailing skills, Sailfest 2024 has you covered. Check in on our introduction to sailing classes, water safety, sailing skills, and more. The United States Coast Guard will conduct water safety classes, providing valuable insights and tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable time on the lake.
-
Family-Friendly Activities - Sailfest isn't just for sailors! Families are encouraged to join the festivities with a range of land and water-based activities, including beach games, live entertainment, boat viewing, our Sailors Village, and more. • Charity—Lake Lanier Sailfest is a local non-profit, and we will be raising money for local charities, including junior sailing programs, Lake Lanier search, rescue & recovery, and The Crossbones Company. To sign up to attend the event (tickets, dinners, etc.), please use this link.
Barefoot Member Participation
Barefoot will be participating in THREE things at Sailfest 2024, and we need your help! Since the event occurs mainly on Saturday, Barefoot will be canceling our First Saturday cruise for April 6th.
-
Barefoot Booth - We will be hosting a booth to give away stuff and sign up new members. We need a handful of volunteers to staff it throughout the day. If you want to do this, please notify Lisa (bfsccommodore@gmail.com).
-
Supervising “Olympic” Events - We will be running 5 events (blindfold dinghy race, knot tying contest, trivia questionnaire, water balloon toss, and “label a sailboat”)—and need at least one person for each of them to guide other Sailfest volunteers. If you like to be in charge, this is for you! ***To volunteer for Sailfest, please use this link. This is a general form for the event, so once you have signed up here, please let Lisa know (bfsccommodore@gmail.com) so she can make sure you get assigned to the Barefoot activities.
-
Olympic Competition Team - Barefoot would like to have a team for the Sailfest Olympic competition. If you can row a boat, give directions, tie knots, toss a water balloon, know boat trivia or the parts of a sailboat, this is your opportunity to strut your stuff!!! More on team participation will be provided soon.
